On June 7, 2025, the first of the series of glider landing accuracy competitions will be held for the Cup of the Rector-Commander of the Airborne Military Academy. The event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Eagle School in Deblin. It was here that many pilots for the first time first encountered the magic of flying - without engines, driven solely by the power of nature, wind and thermals. This year's glider competition, which will be held for the first time as an inaugural event in the series of events dedicated to gliding, is aimed not only at sports rivalry, but above all to integrate the entire aviation community.
Gliding is one of the oldest and purest forms of flying. Already at the beginning of the 20 th century aviation enthusiasts began to construct the first gliders and make attempts at flights, which in time turned into a full-fledged sport. After World War II, gliding became extremely popular, especially in Poland, where it it developed dynamically in aeroclubs scattered throughout the country. Gliders not only trained future pilots, but also gave them the opportunity to commune with the sky in its purest form.
There is a reason why it is said that a real pilot started with a glider. It is here future pilots learn the basics of aerodynamics, mastery of the machine, reading weather conditions weather conditions and, most importantly, humility in the face of the forces of nature. For many of today's pilots airlines, military or sport aviation, gliding was the first step on the path of an aerial career. This experience shapes character and skills, Which remain for a lifetime. The main idea of the event is to unite the aviation community - from experienced gliders, through airplane pilots, to young enthusiasts and enthusiasts of aviation.
It's a great opportunity to exchange experiences, celebrate the passion for flying together and to build stronger ties in the aviation community. In this age of modern technology and fast-paced life, gliding reminds us of the essence of aviation passion - the silence between the clouds, precision and harmony with nature. These competitions are not only a return to the roots, but also a step into the future - towards a new, united community of people who are
united by one thing: love of the sky.
