On May 24, 2025 at 12:00 on the main square in Grudziadz, a solemn roll call was held to celebrate the great anniversary of the School of Eaglets. Already at the beginning of this special event there could be no shortage of aviation accents, as during the raising of the national flag there was a flight of PZL-130 ORLIK aircraft from the 42nd School Aviation Base.
Traditionally, at the beginning of the ceremony, the Rector-Commander of the LAW, Brig. Gen. Pil. Dr. Krzysztof Cur welcomed the guests and the gathered staff and residents of Grudziądz, and referred to the celebrated Holiday with the significant words: "One hundred years is a glorious age of history, tradition and service. This is the story of thousands of people who, within the walls of the School of Eaglets, fulfilled their dreams by rising above mediocrity, above everyday life, above their own limitations. At the School they learned not only how to fly, but first of all how to become an officer in the Polish Army. It was here that famous pilots began their aviation adventure.
Fighter aviation aces and excellent commanders for whom service to the Fatherland was an honor, not a duty." Also, the Minister's Counselor for Aviation in the Office of the Minister of National Defense, Brigadier General Pilot Krzysztof Stobiecki, in his speech, quoted the words of the occasional letter from the Vice President of the Council of Ministers - Minister of National Defense addressed to the participants in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the School of Eaglets: "Polish aviators are our pride. Both those of years ago and current pilots, and on their powerful machines, they constantly confirm that they are the best of the best. They confirm that in our Air Force serve people with a vocation, soldiers of flesh and blood. At the same time, let's remember that the quality of any military depends on good training. Hence the crucial importance of military academies.
We are all well aware that there would not be this well-deserved reputation of our aviators without the Dęblin School of Eaglets. In addition, the following spoke: the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Mr. Tomasz Szymanski, the Governor of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Mr. Michal Koniucha, the President of Grudziądz Mr. Maciej Glamowski, the Deputy Director of the Department of Military Education of the Ministry of Defense Mr. Prof. Leszek Wieczorek and the Honorary President of the SSLW RP, Retired General Pilot Franciszek Macioła. An important part of the event was the reading of Decisions and Orders on bestowing decorations and distinctions on LAW cadres and the presentation of a commemorative badge to the President of Grudziądz. A special part of the ceremony was the laying of wreaths in front of the “Polish Soldier” monument. At the end of the solemn roll call, the “Representative Song of the Polish Army” was played and sung, and a parade of the Air Force Representative Company, the LAW subdivisions participating in the solemn roll call and the Military Band from Toruń took place.
In addition, the event was attended by the Rectors-Commandants of WAT and AMW, as well as representatives of local military units and local authorities, and commanders of the uniformed services of the city of Grudziądz. After the ceremony, the invited guests went to an occasional cocktail, and the numerous participants of the event took part in an occasional Picnic during which the citizens of Grudziądz could, among other things, learn about the promotional offer of the Military Aviation Academy, listen to a concert by musicians of the Pejota band from the LAW University Club, taste soldierly refreshments, and see a static exhibition in the form of, among others, ACSL helicopters and the 41st Training Air Base. The solemn roll call was preceded by the laying of wreaths, in the presence of an honorary assistance in front of the Aviators Monument and a commemorative plaque on the grounds of the Military Armament Works in Grudziądz, the former headquarters of the Officer Aviation School. The ceremony was attended by the Rector-Commander of the LAW, the President of Grudziądz and representatives of the WZU board.
Also could not miss the Mass for the intention of the School of Eaglets celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebration at the site of the first headquarters of the School of Eaglets was an opportunity to remember the history and heritage of our great predecessors - aviators from under the white and red chessboard, as well as an inspiration for all to deepen the aviation community, awakening positive emotions integrating the environment of the University's academic community and residents of Grudziadz.
